Wisej.NET 3.5 Hybrid on MAUI

Hi guys,

I saw in the roadmap that version 3.5 is described as Hybrid on MAUI. If I’m mot mistaken, MAUI is XAML, isn’t it? Does this mean you are planning to depart from the WinForms model ?

Best,
Alex

Alaa, I’m testing wisej again for the first time since the very early days. As I understood it from the gizmox days, webgui/wisej was supposed to be a “winforms for the web” framework from day one. I’m sure that is still a major part of the wisej dna, but hearing what you wrote about hybrid wisej makes me wonder what the change is about?

“Wisej Hybrid is going to be a bridge that allows you to develop your applications with the well known WinForms model and making it easier to port them to all supported devices” sounds like the original idea behind wisej/webgui.

We have nothing to do with webgui or gizmox.

Hi Luca That’s interesting – I had the impression that the direct origin of wisej was webgui. That must have been a misunderstanding on my part from years ago.

Hi Alex,

Wisej Hybrid is going to be a bridge that allows you to develop your applications with the well known WinForms model and making it easier to port them to all supported devices.

What that means is that you’re able to develop a full fledged web application that can interact with all aspects of a supported device without having to write or develop any XAML based UIs.

To answer your question, there are no plans as of right now to deviate from the existing WinForms architecture.

HTH,

Alaa
