License(s) advice

Hi,

I’m using wisej on 4 projects with different clients. One of my clients will renew the server license, and I will renew my developer license.

What should I do with the other clients (where I will still offer maintenance)? Is there any way to compile an application on my development PC (with last wisej version installed) and deploy/copy just my dll, without wisej dll’s?

Thank you,

Adrian

Hi Adrian,

It highly depends on the version.
This is not a Wisej issue but more a general .NET deployment and assembly binding issue. If the app uses a method or property not available in an older version of a referenced DLL you will get an error.

Best regards,
Alaa

Just to have it clear, I have some specific questions: 1. The wisej dll will maintains backward compatibility? Meaning that all methods/properties will be available and compatible in newer versions? So an “older” application can be compiled on a newer version of wisej without modifications and deploy on older server? 2. My licence has expired. How long can I wait before renew-ing it at the 50% discount? Or, to be clear, it is possible for a client to renew his server licence 6 months after expiring? Thank you.

Hi Adrian, Generally, Wisej will maintain backward compatibility with newer version. An application made with a previous version of Wisej would be compiled on a newer one without modifications. As for the license, the renewal extends the free updates period, so there’s no difference between renewing after 1 month or even after 6 months after expiration. However, licenses are perpetual and they can keep using the licenses version forever. Regards, Alaa
