Ice Tea Group’s Global Tour: Europe to the US

Community is in our DNA. We’re proud to be part of the .NET community, and this November, we saw a unique opportunity to connect.

Last month, our team attended conferences on opposite sides of the globe. These events showcased various companies, from industry giants to smaller startups and open-source communities.

From insightful talks on AI and machine learning to the latest in cloud and web development, these events weren’t just an opportunity to showcase Wisej.NET. It was a chance to grow.

Connecting Devs Across Borders

Being remote, we love the energy of in-person events. Though, distance is a challenge. As great as it would be for everyone to get together, it’s not always practical!

We make connections count. We sent representatives to nearby conferences by leveraging our global reach and minimizing travel. While meetups are great, there’s a lot in the works!

Tunisian Travels

We began with Tunisia Dev Days 2024 in the beautiful city of Gammarth. As the country’s first commercial .NET tech event, we wanted to be part of it. We were immersed around the vibrant Regency Hotel, steps away from historic Carthage and Roman ruins.

We arrived on Thursday to a buzzing atmosphere. Mabrouk Mahdhi and his team welcomed us to a room filled with over 120 eager developers, deep in conversation. We set up our booth and were ready to discuss the coming days.

Tunis Tech Talks

Our first presence was Alaa’s captivating presentation, “Turning Old into New: Migrating Old Desktop Apps to the Web.” It was his first conference session and a highlight of the entire event. His expertise and engaging style instantly captivated the audience, promising an exciting series of talks.

Over the weekend, we participated in many events, with many standouts. Large companies like Microsoft were present and gave great sessions. Still, one of our favorites was from our friend Dino Esposito, who spoke on modernization and shared valuable tips and strategies for evolving systems.

Beyond the talks, our booth was an excellent space for enthusiastic developers. Networking sessions sparked conversations and collaborations, providing an excellent opportunity to connect.

Sunshine State

On November 16th, we packed our bags for Orlando, Florida, where we would be joined by over a thousand developers for Visual Studio Live!

We were at the Pacific Royal Resort Hotel near the iconic Universal Studios.

4

Visual Studio Live! has been around for years. It’s a series of developer conferences focused initially on Microsoft technologies, including .NET, Azure, and Visual Studio. However, it covers broader subjects like AI, too. It has been successfully running for years, keeping developers updated with the latest trends and skills.

Universal Excitement

We loved it immediately; there were great keynotes. Microsoft’s Mads Kristensen shared one, “Building Lovable Software for Millions of Users,” enthusiastically discussing the challenges and successes behind Azure.

Later, Thomas and Levie took the stage for a session on “Extending Business Applications with Wisej.AI SmartComponents.” They mixed tips and real-world examples to show attendees how AI can unlock new business possibilities.

Wrapping up was the usual conferencing: We stayed by our booth, engaged with attendees, and caught up with old friends hanging out.

Winding Down

After some deserved shut-eye, Luca and Levie led a focused lunch session on modernizing legacy applications, sparking lively discussions and generating significant interest. Several sessions later, we packed up and capped with farewell drinks 🍻

We loved networking and exploring these vibrant cities. We’re always interested in attending new events, so please keep your ears open. Here’s to the next ones, and a happy new year from Wisej.NET!
