[SOLVED] Planning of features

Is there any insight on the planning of various features and controls?
Like the Ribbonbar  and Start button on the Desktop?

I have a major project coming my way in which is decided that we will build it in the Desktop way, therefor I suggested WiseJ as the main option for this. But then the Start button and perhaps windows control (like tile and close all) is needed.. And to finish of the Ribbon Bar is in my option a big help for an overall menu bar, application wide, where the Mainmenubar is a more functional menu.

Also is there more, like a sample, on how to use javascripts with WiseJ? I can find various bits and pieces but have no clue yet on how to combine it all..:-)

So if there is any option to share insight please let me know..

Hi Markus, here is the quick update:

  • Propertygrid (90%)
  • Google Controls (100% for the GoogleMap) and Polymer (90%)
  • TinyMCE (0%)
  • ReportViewer for Crystal (0%)
  • Filedialogs for system  and S3 (50%)
  • UserComboBox, Color/Font Pickers (10%)
  • Ribbonbar and accordion (20%)
  • File system for onedrive and google drive (10%)
  • Onlyoffice.org integration (0%)

The stumbling block now is finishing the PropertyGrid which is quite a complex thing since it has to tie in the System.ComponentModel system. The RibbonBar is needed also in some of our projects and development will speed up soon by the developers at fecher.eu.

Best,

Luca

Hi,

could you please give us a short update on the roadmap and what is planned for the next releases?

Especially the ribbonbar would be a great deal for us as this is one thing that prevents us from migrating completely at the moment.

Thanks in advance.

Hi, there is a list here:

https://wisej.com/support/question/feature-request-colour-picker-font-picker

Copied below:

  • Propertygrid
  • Google Controls and Polymer
  • TinyMCE
  • ReportViewer for Crystal
  • Filedialogs for system  and S3
  • UserComboBox, Color/Font Pickers
  • Ribbonbar and accordion
  • File system for onedrive and google drive
  • Onlyoffice.org integration
  • Going to Mars. <– this was a joke.

It’s not strictly in order of implementation, rather in priority/urgency. Most of the items on the list are already started and at different stages and some can go in parallel or depend on each other.

The color picker’s issue is not the code, rather translating the theme for the inner layout from qooxdoo’s javascript approach to Wisej’s JSON theme files.

Best,

Luca

I was looking more for a timeline.. I can imaging things can take forever to create. But if we want to use it in real-life apps, I guess we also would need to know what to expect.. Is there anything we can do ourselves in this case or get involved somehow?
  • Luca (ITG)
Absolutely, except for the PropertyGrid, FileDialogs and UserComboBox, all the other controls are extensions that will be provided as open source components, like all the extensions that are downloadable now. Let know if you’d like to get involved with the development of any of the extensions listed (or new ones) and we can provide the starter project, scaffolding, and a shared svn repository.
  • Michael Hensen
Sorry for the late response..As I am more and more aware that I will follow the WiseJ route, I indeed would like to get involved, so if I can help .. let me know, but I need some guidance to start off..

I agree. Would be great to get an insight into a rough roadmap for the next steps of WiseJ. We also have a big project coming along and some applications to migrate from VWG. Therefore we have to decide on the technology platform in the next weeks. If we would know what features you want to implement in a next step, it would really help us with our planning. Especially the Ribbon Bar would be a great help for us, too.

Thanks in advance.

I would like to help with the ribbonbar if possible.
